God says you are special to Him. You are special to Him because He created you. As part of His creation you are valuable to Him. God really cares about you and is deeply concerned about you and what happens to you.
In the beginning, God created…
Genesis 1 tells us that God created the universe out of nothing by His word. Some things to notice from chapter 1:
- In the beginning… there was a beginning
- God created the heavens and the earth
- The earth was formless and void
- Darkness was over the surface of the deep
- The Spirit of God was moving over the surface of the waters
- God said
- There was
- God saw
- God separated
- God called
- It was good
God speaks and it is so
By faith we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things which are visible.
You are created for His glory
In God’s infinite creativity, wisdom, capacity, power, and knowledge, He designed you and created you for His glory.
Everyone who is called by My name, And whom I have created for My glory, Whom I have formed, even whom I have made.”
God uniquely created you, and gave you authority and purpose
26Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; and let them rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over the cattle and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”
God created man in His own image. God is unique. Since God is unique, each one of us has been created to give Him glory through the uniqueness He created each one of us with.
God gave man authority over all that He had created. Since there is no higher authority than God, the authority He gave man was distinct, unique, and absolute.
God’s purpose for humankind:
- to give Him glory by ruling over everything God gave man authority to rule over
- to be fruitful and multiply, thereby multiplying the glory given to God through each person uniquely created
- to receive the blessing of God through the authority He gave man to exercise
- to be fruitful, to subdue, and to rule over everything that moves on the earth according to the authority God gave man
God, as my Creator I worship you. I give you glory. Thank you for how you have created me. I accept and receive how you have created me. Thank you for how you uniquely created each one of us. I acknowledge that you created each person to uniquely demonstrate your power and to bring you glory and to worship you.
God is here right now and completely knows you
Everything all of us have thought, spoken, and done has been searched by God and is known by God. There is nothing unknown to God.
Hebrews 4:13 (AMP)
And not a creature exists that is concealed from His sight, but all things are open and exposed, naked and defenseless to the eyes of Him with Whom we have to do.
O LORD, you have searched me and known me
- God knows when I sit down
- God knows when I rise up
- God knows my thoughts from afar
- God scrutinizes my path from afar
- God scrutinizes my lying down
- God is intimately acquainted with ALL of my ways
- Even before there is a word on my tongue, He knows it all
David knew that God loved him. Look at David’s response to God as he understood that God is everywhere and knew everything about Him.
Psalm 139:23-24 (AMP)
23Search me [thoroughly], O God, and know my heart! Try me and know my thoughts! 24And see if there is any wicked or hurtful way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.
David wanted to receive what God knew about him. He wanted God to search him and know his heart; to try him and know his anxious thoughts; to see if there be any wicked or hurtful way in him; to lead him in the way everlasting. Is that your response to God today?
God’s interest in you is incalculable
God has placed an incalculable value on you as His creation. He loves you more than you can grasp or comprehend. He is interested in and has unfathomable knowledge of you in the smallest of details, even the number of hairs on your head. He cannot be more concerned and interested in you. He knows you perfectly. He is interested in you perfectly. He loves you perfectly.
God’s demonstration of His love: Jesus Christ
1 John 4:9-10
9By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. 10In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
God’s motivation to sacrifice His Son for you and for me was love. Believe and receive what God has done because He is love.
Our Good Shepherd
John 10:9-16. The words the Lord spoke are further demonstration of His love:
- He saves us
- He is our Good Shepherd
- He laid down His life for us
- He is not a hired hand
- He will not flee when a wolf comes
- He owns us
- He knows us
- We know Him
It is hard to receive love, isn’t it?
Most of at one time or another have said something like:
- ‘I don’t feel worthy to be loved by God or to receive His love’
- ‘God couldn’t possibly love me because of what I have done’
- ‘I have a hard time believing this’
- ‘I have a hard time receiving this’
It is a matter of believing and receiving what Jesus Christ has already done. God loves you because of Jesus. God loves you knowing full well that you and I have sinned and come short of the glory of God.
God has demonstrated His love toward us: Jesus Christ has died for us
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
How is a person adopted into God’s family?
12But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, 13who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
As a believer in Jesus Christ, you have been adopted into the family of God
As a believer in Jesus Christ, you can now address God as Jesus said you can in Matthew 6:9: Our Father…
