What do you do when you are alone?

Doing right when nobody else does it or knows about it gives satisfaction and reward.

  • Do some positive things when you are alone.
  • Replace the negative things and ways and living with positives.
  • Use your freedom in Christ when you are alone for good.

God rewards in secret

Deuteronomy 29:29

“The secret things belong to the LORD our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our sons forever, that we may observe all the words of this law.”

Secrets open the door for God to reward you

Matthew 6:1

“Beware of practicing your righteousness before men to be noticed by them; otherwise you have no reward with your Father who is in heaven.”

Walking by faith means looking to God for reward instead of looking to man. Doing things before man for the praise of man is stupid. Those that seek their praise from men get their reward in full from men and receive no reward from God.

Do not settle for any kind of earthly praise. Praise from God is real praise.

Give in secret

Matthew 6:2-4

2“So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. 3“But when you give to the poor, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4so that your giving will be in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.

Pray in secret

Matthew 6:5-8

5 “When you pray, you are not to be like the hypocrites; for they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the street corners so that they may be seen by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. 6 “But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, close your door and pray to your Father who is in secret, and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you. 7 “And when you are praying, do not use meaningless repetition as the Gentiles do, for they suppose that they will be heard for their many words. 8 “So do not be like them; for your Father knows what you need before you ask Him.

Some people like to show how ‘spiritual’ they are by praying in public to be noticed and quote ‘admired’ for their show of praying. This is actually unspiritual.

When we pray we don’t need to endlessly repeat things. Have you ever tried talking to someone and you kept repeating the same thing over and over? The outcome is not good and is a very ineffective way to communicate.

God knows everything done in the open and done in secret

Hebrews 4:13 (NLT)

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before His eyes, and He is the One to whom we are accountable.

God pays the utmost attention to those He wants to reward because of their faith (trust) in Him.

Hebrews 11:6

And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.

The Lord Jesus is the ultimate example of living in the secret place in all things. He was utterly secure in His relationship with the Father. He was only in tune with His private image and gave no regard for a public image.

Quit listening to man and start listening to God.

The secret life is the life full of joy, peace, and security

1 Timothy 5:25

Likewise also, deeds that are good are quite evident, and those which are otherwise cannot be concealed.

Pray God’s way

Matthew 6:9-15

9 “Pray, then, in this way: ‘Our Father who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. 10 ‘Your kingdom come. Your will be done, On earth as it is in heaven. 11 ‘Give us this day our daily bread. 12 ‘And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 ‘And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil. [For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.]’ 14 “For if you forgive others for their transgressions, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. 15 “But if you do not forgive others, then your Father will not forgive your transgressions.

Fast in secret

Matthew 6:16-18

16 “Whenever you fast, do not put on a gloomy face as the hypocrites do, for they neglect their appearance so that they will be noticed by men when they are fasting. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full. 17 “But you, when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face 18 so that your fasting will not be noticed by men, but by your Father who is in secret; and your Father who sees what is done in secret will reward you.

Store up treasure in secret

Matthew 6:19-21

19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 “But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; 21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Start doing the things the Lord Jesus said to do in secret instead of the things that are vain, destructive, and result in no reward from God.
